The Difference In Lash Styles

As we all know by now, there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to beauty. This includes the type of lash style that you decide to frame your eyes with. In this article, we will explain the basic type of lash extension sets (classic, hybrid, volume, mega volume) as well as the various styles that are available (natural-eye, cat-eye, squirrel/kitten-eye, etc.) to choose from.

Lash Extension Types

Classic

Classic lash extensions are one of the first type of lash extension sets that have been around since the beginning. This type of style is created by placing 1 lash extension to 1 natural lash, which is why it is commonly referred to as 1:1 lash set. This set is perfect for those that do no want to add ‘thickness’ to their lashes, but rather just to add length and curl to their natural lashes.

Hybrid

Just like the name suggests, this lash set is a mix of classic lash extensions and volume fans. Generally, hybrid sets are a 50/50 mix of both classic and volume lashes, but the ratio can be altered depending on the look that is aimed to be achieved. Being the most versatile out of all sets, the hybrid lash set can be altered in thickness in accordance to personal preference as well as the number of natural lashes an individual may possess. Please note that as this is such adjustable style, every lash technician may have a different method to their version of a hybrid lash set.

Volume

The Volume lash set is one of the most common and popular lash style types that are available. These are created by placing volume fans on each individual natural lash, which gives it its renowned voluminous look. Similar to the hybrid set, the volume set can also be altered by switching up how many individual lashes are in a single volume fan; this is why sometimes they are classified with 3D, 4D, 5D, etc.

Mega Volume

When the goal is to be EXTRA, the mega volume set is the one to be chosen. The fullest of all the lash extension types, this set creates the ultimate dense and fluffy look. Created with extra-fine lashes, this set can be safely placed on natural lashes without damage. This set is also an option for individuals with sparse lashes to create a full-looking set that they cannot achieve with the other lash set types.

Lash Extension Shaping

Natural – Eye

The most versatile style for those who don’t know what style to choose from as it is placed in accordance to your natural eye-shape. This style can be used on any face and eye shape.

Doll – Eye

Used to create a look that ‘opens’ the eyes. This style generally enhances the eye by creating round effect.

Kitten/Squirrel – Eye

This style is also one of the more universal looks that suits all eye shapes as it is very similar to the natural – eye. This style opens the eye whilst giving it a mini cat-eye look.

Cat – Eye

This style is aimed to elongate the eyes which creating a dramatic cat-eye effect.

Lash Extension Effects

Uniform

As the name states, this effect is creates a uniform line across the lash set.

Wispy Effect

The Wispy Effect is added onto lash sets that want to achieve the ‘staggered’ look. As different lengths are mixed throughout, the set allows for a that strip lash look.

Wet Effect

The Wet Effect is perfect for those who want to achieve the look of mascara with lash extensions.

As there are a multitude of style combinations as well as unique face/eye-shapes, note that the same lash set will look different on every individual. Make sure to discuss your preference with a professional lash tech to achieve your lash goals.
